Strength training for recovery and prevention of concussions

Overspeed Training using the Safety Cord Speed Belt and the Super Bungie Kit

At NZ Manufacturing, we’re constantly looking for new and innovative ways to use our resistance cord product line in various athletic and rehabilitation areas.

Recently we’ve heard from some of our customers about how they’re using our TurfCordz® Safety Cord Speed Belt and Super Bungie kit with overspeed training. In this blog, we’ll introduce you to the concept of overspeed training itself and show you how our NZ Manufacturing products are beneficial to these types of exercises.

What is Overspeed Training?

Most athletes and trainers agree that there are two primary ways to reach your optimal skill level. Those are either competing with other athletes of equal or superior skill, or for coaches and trainers to create an environment where even in the absence of competition, performance gains can be achieved.

When it comes to any type of training, the following skills are most important: agility, speed, strength, endurance and flexibility. Of these five qualities, speed and agility are likely the most important. Historically trainers have attempted to match the intensity of game level competition, which can be difficult and not always effective.

Enter overspeed training.

Overspeed training involves moving the body at speeds that are higher than those that would occur in the competitive environment.

Run Faster. Jump Higher. By Combining Plyometrics and Resistance Cords.

Serious athletes are always looking for the next way to improve their strength, agility and response times.

There are a whole host of different athletic training techniques to help athletes meet their goals of becoming faster, and quicker, but few have been shown to be as effective as plyometrics.

What is Plyometrics?

Plyometrics, which is also referred to as “jump training,“ by some, are exercises meant to exert the maximum amount of force on muscles in a relatively short amount of time. The goal of these exercises is to increase power and in turn speed and strength.

Plyometric exercises are meant to activate the elastic properties and quick response of major muscle groups. The term was coined by a man by the name of Fred Wilt who gave these exercises the name after watching Soviet Olympians training in the 1970s.
